Youth NGO’s

Liepaja Youth Centre has been working shoulder-to-shoulder with youth NGOs and building a successful youth policy development. Despite the fact, that since 2006, the total number of young people has declined, the number of active young people has increased. There were14’288 young people in Liepaja in 2006 and only 185 young people of them were active. There were also 7 youth organizations. Accordingly, in the year 2008, there were 14’131 young people living in Liepaja and the number of active youngsters was 1’242. The number of youth organizations had also increased-15. Thus, in general, we can say that Liepaja youth activity and participation in youth organizations has increased.

The success of youth policy development is negatively affected by the current economic and social situation in the country. Therefore, it is important to provide opportunities of spending free time efficiently for young people. Liepaja Youth organizations are able to attract more and more European Union funding and involve more and more young people in various activities.We consider that, despite setbacks, there can not be any obstacle to personal growth for youth.
