What actually is Youth affair commission?

Unfortunately it is not possible to give a specific definition of Youth affair commission. But the commission exists and works, so there should be some way to describe it. It is of great value as well as other bigger or smaller “parts” of this “man” of Youth affairs here in Liepaja. We are so different, but we all are needed as a hands or legs for this “man”, only together, cooperating we can do great things.

The commission is one of structural units of government of Liepaja.
Why is it necessary to pay attention to it?
It is necessary because it shows youth authority in decision making and the meaning of commission in making youths politics in Liepaja.

How, when and why this commission was founded?

It was founded by the government of Liepaja in 2001. Municipality of Liepaja is the first which can be proud of having committee like this. But in spite of that commission has proved its work and it works better and better. There are 11 young people who are ready to listen and solve youth problems. Opened meetings happen twice a month and everybody is welcome to take part in it. Commission gives to youth a unique opportunity to express their needs, their problems or simply tell leadership how to improve the youngsters’ life.
Youth affair commission actually is youth response to government.

Main aims of commission:

- Provide opportunity to develop oneself;
- To support, motivate and involve youth in the city life and its development;
- Express its point of view concerning youth issues;
- Solve youth problems.

After all if you have something on your heart to tell about you are welcome in government of Liepaja – you will be listened! It’s a promise!
